Commercial projects are a little different to residential projects, in that they tend to have there own team of specialists, often led by an architect, then an engineer and surveyors, some have site supervisors/clerk of works who liase between the design team and the main contractor.
Working within this arrangement requires a different skill set, a good knowledge of contracts and understanding that often the site restraints and conditions will have an impact on timing.
Over the years we have worked on a huge variety of projects from the truly large scale Docklands Rejuvenation and Power Stations, to much smaller Parks, Playgrounds and small intimate office courtyards. All require a slightly different approach.
This project is very special to me - it was my first award winning project.
When We took the site over it was a complete mess.
The site was very heavy clay, first we worked on the hard landscape then the soft landscape preparation could follow
The area infront was developed into a butterfly garden see below
Whilst on the left side the trees thrived and were underplanted with cotoneasters
It's almost always best to clean the site, before commencing finishing works such as final surfaces and soft landscaping
Each flats rear courtyard was landscaped making a beautifully landscaped project
